Mako's Voting Record on:
Public Education

Just because you're FROM a community doesn't mean you're FOR a community.

Background

A court ruled the school funding system unconstitutional, and required the state to fix the deficit.Mako has voted against the fix.

In February 2023, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania ruled school funding unconstitutional. Local property taxes drive the gap. Wealthier districts raise more. Poorer districts cannot, and students are left with fewer resources, from educational programs to athletics, music, art and after-school programs. The fix was left to the House of Representatives.

Zach Mako has represented HD-183 for nearly ten years. It is his job to keep the public schools of HD-183 from being left behind. Yet he voted against House Bill 2370 and the budgets that carried the new classroom funding.

Mako also voted that charter schools do not need to educate students for 180 days like public schools (under HB-1422).
