House Bill 2446 would put $30 million into equipment, stations, staffing, and recruitment for Pennsylvania fire companies.Mako voted no. The House passed it 105–96.
House Bill 2446 would create the Fire Company Transformational Grant Program, run by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Municipal, volunteer, and combination fire companies could use the grants for major apparatus such as fire trucks, station upgrades, staffing, and volunteer recruitment and retention. A single department could receive $100,000 to $1 million. Combined or regional departments could receive $250,000 to $2.5 million.
